Gender education all the way As a teacher in a mixed-gender school, I have noticed that the girls do not receive equal opportunities as the boys. The girls are denied chances to participate in out of class activities such as sports and science fairs, this makes them withdrawn and get a feeling that they are lesser than the boys they learn with. Many lose school contact hours due to a lack of basic information on menstrual hygiene and lack support to enable them to go through menstruation with dignity, this drives some to engage in transactional sex or make them opt for pregnancy to allow them a temporal break from this natural process. With the learning I gain in this course, I intend to be a voice against such discrimination whenever and before it occurs and I will respond to such issues to my capability to help these girls, the school, and surrounding community realize that if these girls are accorded the necessary support, they are able to get to great heights both in academic, s...
